Congressman Luetkemeyer Wants Needed Reforms in the National Flood Insurance Program

June 8, 2017

114_rp_mo_3_luetkemeyer_blaineThe current disaster has served as a reminder of the important role flood insurance plays in recovery efforts. In light of the reality that a flood disaster will eventually occur again in Missouri, I am working closely with my colleagues on the House Financial Services Committee to bring much needed reforms to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

During the 114th Congress I served as the Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance, which oversees the NFIP. During my time as Chairman, I held a number of hearings and roundtables with various stakeholders to understand the problems associated with NFIP and form solutions to help protect policyholders and safeguard taxpayer dollars. Although I now chair a different subcommittee on the Financial Services Committee, I continue to serve on the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee and will work closely with my colleagues to examine the issues surrounding flood insurance.
