County Office Races Set

Filing for the August primary election closed yesterday and there will be a number of races for county offices in the Westplex.

In Warren County, all of the races are on the Republican ticket. In the presiding commissioner’s race, Incumbent Arden Engelage is facing challenger and current county coroner Roger Mauzy. In the circuit clerk’s race, John Cornell is challenging incumbent Brenda Eggering. Randy Lewis and Jeff Hoelscher have filed for county treasurer where incumbent Gene Cornell is retiring. Kelly King is challenging Jennifer Bartlett for prosecuting attorney. Four candidates have filed for collector, where incumbent Linda Stude is retiring. They are Linda Gant, Julie Schaumburg, Marianne Keith and Pam Stoesz. And finally, newly appointed Division 3 Associate Circuit Judge Michael Wright is being challenged by Lauren Lynn Hopkins. Incumbent Warren County candidates running unopposed are county clerk Barb Daly, recorder Deborah Engeman and Division 2 Associate Circuit Judge Richard Scheibe.

In Lincoln County, the only race in the primary is on the Republican ticket where incumbent presiding commissioner Dan Colbert is being challenged by Kelly Hardcastle. Other Republican candidates are Gregory Allsberry for Division 3 Associate Judge; Jim Beck for Division 2 Associate Judge and Barb Wehde for auditor. Democratic candidates are Patrick Flynn for Division 3 Associate Judge; Grace Sinclair for circuit clerk; Leah Wommack Askey for prosecuting attorney; Mark Schuette for presiding commissioner; Crystal Hall for county clerk; Jerry Fox for collector and Dottie Crenshaw for recorder of deeds.
