First Comprehensive Tree Inventory Conducted in Wentzville

June 19, 2017

wentzWe are pleased to announce that City of Wentzville has collaborated with ArborPro, Inc., to conduct its first comprehensive tree inventory of all City of Wentzville public property. The inventory will help the City better understand the current state of the urban forest, create a framework for future tree care and maintenance planning, and address the economic, environmental and social benefits that trees provide.

The City’s vision to promote and preserve the urban forest and improve the management of public trees was a fundamental inspiration for this project. The 2,902 inventoried trees in Wentzville’s parks and public spaces account for a savings of $9,504 in energy consumption, $30,462 in stormwater runoff and $92,884 in aesthetic/other benefits, such as lower crime rates, higher property values and improved mental health.

A portion of the funding for this project was made available through the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance (TRIM) Program, as well as Tree City USA.
