scott ruppAs expected, Republican State Senator Scott Rupp of Wentzville, has been appointed by Governor Jay Nixon to the Missouri Public Service Commission, the agency that regulates utility companies in the state.

Rupp, who couldn’t seek re-election this year due to term limits, had indicated earlier this year that he expected to get the appointment to the bipartisan commission. His appointment must still be confirmed by the Senate.

Meanwhile, three Republicans are running in the August 5th primary to succeed Rupp. They are State Representative Chuck Gatschenberger of Lake Saint Louis and former State Representatives Bob Onder of Lake Saint Louis and Vicki Schneider of O’Fallon. No Democrats filed for the seat.
